What we believe

We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and the supreme authority in all matters of doctrine and practice. Our beliefs are well summarised by the ancient Apostles' Creed, which is still recited in Christian churches around the world today.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father;
from there he will come to judge
the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy universal church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen

As an Anglican church, we also hold to the Thirty-Nine Articles. Alongside the Book of Common Prayer, the Articles have shaped and defined what Anglican churches believe, and how they function, for over 450 years. Among other things, the articles affirm that there is one triune creator God, that God the Son became man to reconcile us to God through his death on the cross, that he rose again from the dead, ascended to heaven and will return to judge, that the Bible contains all we need for salvation, that all humanity is corrupted by sin, and that salvation can only come through faith in Christ.

In accordance with these beliefs, we strive to make sure the good news of salvation for all people, through faith in the crucified and risen Jesus, is at the centre of all that we do.

David Clarke

Senior Minister

David has been Senior Minister at Hoxton Park Anglican Church since 2011, having previously served at Anglican churches in St Marys, Quakers Hill and Hurstville. He is married to Janine and has two young adult children. David grew up in Indonesia where his parents were missionaries. Before training for ministry, David studied Mechanical Engineering and worked briefly at Sunbeam Victa and the Electricity Commission NSW. Outside of church, David leads the SWEATCON (South West Evangelism and Training Conference) committee; is a member of the College Council at Thomas Hassall Anglican College; Deputy Chairman on the board of directors of Anglican Super; and has had a long involvement with committees and boards of the Church Missionary Society NSW & ACT, and the CMS Federal Council.

David is interested in many things automotive and has a particular fondness for old Volkswagens. But most of all he loves helping people come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. His prayer for Hoxton Park Anglican Church is that it be a healthy church, full of people growing in their relationship with God.

Josh Ord

Associate Minister

Josh began at Hoxton Park Anglican church in 2022, having previously served in Anglican Churches in the Lower Blue Mountains, Mortdale, and Liverpool South. Josh has trained for ministry at both Moore College and Sydney Missionary and Bible College. Before college, he worked in Aged Care and Camping Ministry.

Josh enjoys music, the occasional LAN party, and riding motorcycles. Josh is married to Rebekah.

Our Story

Hoxton Park Anglican Church held its first official church service on 5th January 1992 and met in various places until its current ministry centre at 1 Latrobe Rd, West Hoxton was opened at the beginning of 2009 under the leadership of Rev. Bruce Dingwall.

Rev. David Clarke commenced as the Senior Minister in October 2011.

Hoxton Park Anglican Church is a church where the Bible is central to helping us have a personal relationship Jesus Christ as we seek to follow and obey him.

We seek to introduce others to the Jesus we know through his Word, the Bible. As we place our faith and trust in him, his Holy Spirit works in our lives, which are transformed and changed.
